Expression of Interest (EOI) for TANESCO
Electricity Token Agents

Introduction

TANESCO
(Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited) is seeking expressions of interest
from qualified agents to sell electricity tokens to consumers. This
initiative aims to enhance accessibility to electricity services and provide
commission-based opportunities for agents. Interested parties are invited to
submit their applications in accordance with the requirements outlined below

Objective

The primary
objective of this EOI is to engage agents who will be responsible for selling
electricity tokens and facilitating customer access to electricity services

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify as an agent, applicants must meet
the following requirements:

1. Valid Business License: Agents must possess a valid business
   license to operate in Tanzania.


2. Tax Identification Number (TIN) or VAT
   registration: submit
   TIN or VAT certificate (Mandatory).


3. Location Specification: Applicants must indicate the specific
   region and location where they intend to sell electricity tokens.


4. Internet Contribution: Agents must agree to pay a monthly fee
   of 10,000 Tanzanian Shillings as a contribution towards wireless data
   connectivity charges. For those who require wired connectivity, all
   installation costs will be borne by the agent


5. Deposit requirement: Control number will be issued only for
   deposits of 2 million (2,000,000) Shilling or more when required by
   Agent

6. Top-up requirement: Accept the assurance of maintaining a
   sufficient balance at the agent's account


7. Other shared costs: Please confirm your acceptance of all
   other shared costs introduced, as specified in the Expression of
   Interest

Financial Commitment

Deposit Requirement: At the start, Agents
must deposit a minimum of 2,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings into TANESCO's bank
account. This deposit will be set in the system, allowing agents to sell
tokens equivalent to the deposited amount.

Commission Structure: For every amount deposited,
TANESCO will record that amount in the system, along with a commission based
on the calculated sales made by your sales point. This commission will be
calculated and credited to the agent's account as they sell electricity
tokens.

Top-Up
Requirement: Agents must ensure that they maintain a sufficient balance by
depositing additional funds as necessary to avoid running out of balance

Application Process

Interested
agents should submit the following information as part of their EOI:

1.    A
copy of the valid business license.

2.    A
copy of TIN or VAT registration certificate

3.    A
detailed information indicating the region (s) specific location (s) where
token will be sold (of his/her vending stations)

4.    A
written agreement to pay the monthly data connectivity contribution (use the
attach template)

5.    Confirmation
of training arrangements for three staff members, including payment for
training costs

6.    Confirmation
for acceptance of all other shared costs introduced, as specified in the
Expression of Interest

7.    The
commission provided will be based on each calculated sale.

The
submission deadline for Expression of Interest will be 25^th April,
2025.

Please
submit your proposal of expressing interest in a plain envelope sealed and
marked by your Company Name in the respective region where your agent sales
post will be operating, before the deadline.
