Knowledge and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Development Studies, Project Management, International
- Development, Social Sciences, or any other relevant field
- At least 10 years of experience (including international) in managing development programs, preferably with a disaster response component, with large and complex budget.
- At-least 5 years’ experience at Senior Management Team/Country leadership Team level
- In-depth knowledge of gender and inclusion and local/global development issues, with knowledge in girls’ rights and child rights, feminist movements, the key actors and institutions, and the power dynamics involved.
- Mastery of key gender inequalities, gaps, barriers and opportunities at the national, regional and global level and gender programs, and especially for children and girls.
- In-depth understanding of the policies, processes, institutions and organizations that shape the development and humanitarian context and standards within Tanzania.
- In-depth knowledge on different types of partnerships and civil society strengthening and capacity building. Understanding issues, principles and strategies and their root causes and working with organization’s principles and a range of strategies and approaches to improve outcomes.
- Proven track records of excellent Program cycle management within a complex organizational structure.
- Experience of capacity building and prior experience in the design, delivery, or management of programs in education, SRHR, youth economic empowerment, humanitarian response in Tanzania/East Africa or in a country with similar context.
- Mastery of the ability to analyze the social and political structures, dynamics and power relations that enable/exclude girls and boys from enjoying the fulfilment of their rights and equality.
- Broad and deep understanding of the political, social, financial and cultural drivers of inequality; with practical experience of developing and implementing strategies for change
- Ability to identify, analyze and monitor diverse, relevant external actors to work with and understand the purpose and implications of working with them.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and leading the impactful implementation of significant projects, utilizing good practice in MERL to set targets and adaptively managing to ensure achievement of results
- Experience of strategic financial management including understanding relevant funding sources, revenue cycles, budgeting and cost estimation, balance sheets, return on investment etc.
- Outstanding ability to analyze and interpret complex data-sets, both internal and external, to spot trends and patterns, opportunities and risks, and to inform decisions and action (even when the information is incomplete or ambiguous).
- Outstanding communication skills with an ability to deeply understand the starting position of an audience and produce compelling written and/or spoken communications that effectively influence others.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with an ability to relate effectively to a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds; proven track record of leading collaborative working relationships and resolving conflicts between parties with differing interests.
