SUMMARY

OVERVIEW

- The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is a corporate body established by an Act of Parliament No. 23 of 1979 with a mandate to carry out and coordinate medical research, promote the use of research findings, and support the training of local personnel for carrying out scientific research into health problems.

- The Institute is currently collaborating with the Centre for Psychiatric Care in Copenhagen, Denmark, in implementing the DIMENSION study (Digital Empowerment for Mental Health in Tanzania).

- The DIMENSION study seeks to address the gap in mental health disorders in Tanzania by developing and testing a digital training platform to strengthen the capacity of health care workers in identifying and managing mental health disorders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare and monitor the Project budget.

- Maintain accurate accounting records, file and safeguard financial documents.

- Process payments and ensure all payments are properly authorised.

- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.

- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organisational policies and national financial regulations.

- Provide financial guidance to project staff on budgeting and expenditure.

REQUIREMENTS

- Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields: Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration (Accountancy or Finance) from a recognised institution.

- Working experience in projects in a financial position for at least three years in a public research/academic or health Institution.

- Demonstrated experience in efficiently managing financial transactions using electronic Systems, e.g., MUSE.

- Demonstrated commitment to excellence, work efficiency, innovativeness, and teamwork in implementing project work.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with investigators and stakeholders.

- Passionate, highly motivated and able to meet tight deadlines.
