SUMMARY
OVERVIEW
- Danmission East Africa is seeking a qualified and experienced Programme Manager Nature & Climate to lead and oversee the nature and climate portfolio of its East Africa Regional Office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure sound management of programmes and projects within the nature and climate portfolio at the regional office.
- Facilitate partner-led development of project concepts, project descriptions, and funding proposals in collaboration with partner organisations and with strategic support from relevant headquarters functions.
- Advise the Regional Director on the quality, coherence, and results of the nature and climate programme and project portfolio.
- Plan projects and prepare implementation plans based on the country programme.
- Manage financial project administration in cooperation with finance colleagues.
- Identify funding opportunities in collaboration with partners and the Regional Director.
- Lead or co-lead the development of donor applications and concept notes.
- Contribute to donor mapping, donor intelligence, and relationship-building activities.
- Support effective resource mobilisation for partners’ programmes and activities.
- Support partners in planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes, including outcome harvesting.
- Help partners document results and lessons learned.
- Assist partners in ensuring that Danmission’s standards on human rights-based approaches (HRBA) and gender equality are integrated into programming and advocacy.
- Support partners in preparing reports for relevant stakeholders, including back donors.
- Promote partner leadership and ownership throughout the project cycle, including design, implementation, monitoring, learning, and adaptation.
- Support partners in conducting self-led capacity assessments and developing organisational capacity development plans.
- Facilitate partner-to-partner learning, exchange, and collaboration.
- Support the implementation of Danmission’s Local Leadership and Shifting Power Strategy.
- Support partners’ participation in relevant networks, coalitions, coordination mechanisms, and policy processes.
- Facilitate connections between local experiences and broader advocacy and policy opportunities.
- Ensure that projects comply with Danmission’s quality standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong technical expertise in nature and climate development projects and programmes.
- Integrity, collaborative leadership, and the ability to inspire, guide, and enable others.
- Ability to work closely with Danmission colleagues and valued partners to connect the organisation’s strategic intentions with the realities of the regional context.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel within Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, and other countries.
BENEFITS
- Salary: TZS 3,000,000–8,000,000 per month, negotiable.
- Contract duration: Three years, with an opportunity for renewal depending on performance.
- Starting date: 1 September 2026, or no later than 1 October 2026.
- Probation period: First six months.
