SUMMARY

OVERVIEW

- Dar es Salaam Tumaini University (DarTU) is undergoing strategic re-engineering and rebranding to align with emerging developments in various fields.

- The university aims to strengthen its academic and technological capacity to address emerging trends and deliver innovative and industry-responsive academic programs.

- DarTU seeks to recruit qualified, dynamic, and proactive candidates for various academic positions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participate in the University induction program and undertake pedagogical skills training.

- Deliver lectures, seminars, invigilation, and assessments for both postgraduate and undergraduate students.

- Provide academic and administrative leadership at the level of the Department, School or Directorate.

- Mentor and guide junior academic and professional staff in relevant fields of specialization.

- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of academic curricula and instructional materials.

- Develop, coordinate, and manage various university activities and programs.

- Conduct high-quality research, publish scholarly work in reputable journals, and disseminate findings for academic and societal impact.

- Engage in consultancy services and participate in community outreach and extension programs.

- Publish books and/or book chapters that advance the frontiers of knowledge.

- Formulate academic policies and offer technical assistance to the university.

- Supervise field practical, undergraduate special projects, Master’s and PhD theses/dissertations.

- Organize and participate in workshops, conferences and symposia.

- Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the relevant university authorities.

REQUIREMENTS

- Associate Professor in Law:

- Possession of Masters in Laws (LLM) degree and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a PhD in Law from accredited higher learning institutions.

- A GPA of at least 4.0 out of 5.0 or a B+ score in Master’s Degree and a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 5.0 in Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent.

- Must have at least 6 years of post-PhD work experience.

- Must have experience in teaching and research.

- Qualified candidates must be able to teach Law courses at Postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

- Prior experience in University teaching and being an advocate of the High Court will be an added advantage.

- Candidates with the following specializations will be given preference:

- Administrative Law.

- Civil Procedure.

- Constitutional Law.

- Criminal Law and Procedures.

- International Trade and Investment Law.

- Law of Evidence.

- Law of Trusts and Succession.

- Labour Law.

- Land Law.

- Oil and Gas Law.

- Tax Law.

- Legal Writing and Drafting.

- Senior Lecturer in Law:

- Possession of Masters in Laws (LLM) degree and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a PhD in Law from accredited higher learning institutions.

- A GPA of at least 4.0 out of 5.0 or a B+ score in Master’s Degree and a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 5.0 in Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent.

- Must have at least 5 years of relevant work experience and a minimum of 5 points from peer-reviewed publications.

- Candidates must have experience in teaching and research and be capable of teaching Law courses at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

- Prior university teaching experience and admission as an Advocate of the High Court will be considered an added advantage.
