PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The role aims to support accurate ore accounting by capturing and verifying material movements from both open pit and underground operations. It includes maintaining reconciliation databases and stockpile records to ensure reliable grade and tonnage balances, enabling effective blending for plant feed, accurate production forecasting, and alignment with operational strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary School Education Certificate or equivalent.
- A Diploma in a geoscience-related field from a recognized institution.
EXPERIENCE:
- Diploma Holders: Minimum 2–3 years in the mining industry.
- Secondary School Certificate holders: Minimum 5 years in the mining industry.
- Experience in open pit and underground ore accounting will be an added advantage.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word
- Understanding of underground ore accounting systems, geology, and mining workflows.
- Knowledge of mine-to-mill reconciliation processes and cross-functional coordination.
- Awareness of business unit value drivers.
- Ability to analyze information and make timely, effective decisions.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and team leadership skills.
- High level of motivation, commitment, and enthusiasm for achieving operational goals.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Complete all required HSE training and adhere to safe work procedures and standard operating procedures.
- Actively participate in toolbox meetings and assist in identifying and managing hazards and risks.
- Ensure personal safety and contribute to the protection of others through hazard identification and reporting unsafe acts.
- Retrieve, validate, and update daily ore movement, drilling, and production data from both open pit and underground operations.
- Maintain and reconcile satellite and main ROM pad plans, including active/inactive stockpiles, dumping, and rehandle strategies.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of ore accounting spreadsheets and databases for reliable reporting.
- Reconcile ore tonnage and grade across mining, trucking, and stockpile systems, reporting discrepancies to the Senior Geologist – Reconciliation.
- Update truck sample tracking sheets and grade performance data to support production monitoring and management meetings.
- Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly stockpile and production reports to key stakeholders.
- Coordinate with survey, geology, and production teams to ensure accurate stockpile balances and reconciliation.
- Prepare and provide data for weekly blending meetings to optimize plant feed and production planning.
- Maintain mine geology stores for underground and open pit operations, including DocuSign and SAP processes.
